Joshua Gary, (b.1975) a native of Portland, Oregon, is a metal forger living and working in Savannah,
Georgia with his wife, Autumn and their two adult children. Gary found his creative footing several years ago while living within the community of Taos County
New Mexico. He considers this special place to be monumental to the foundation of his practice.
It allowed him to apprentice with Kathy Parks, Huberto Maestas, and Lynn Kircher. These artists provided a space for him to grow and encouraged him to explore and refine the technical aspects of manipulating metals. More importantly, he was taught the tough lesson of listening and responding to what various materials would like to become. Joshua has recently collaborated, fabricated, finished & installed work for his wife & fellow sculptor, Autumn Gary. His work is exhibited in various locations across the United States, including Portland, Taos, Boulder, Raleigh and Savannah. Joshua’s work is highly regarded among collectors and critics alike for its creativity, technical skill, and attention to detail. Much of the output projected from his rigorous studio practice consists of commissions for private collections and ongoing preparation for site-specific museum installations.
